Annual Sangria & Tapas Party
Ever since our first child was about a year old, we’ve hosted a sangria and tapas party in May or June. The original parties were potluck affairs; we made red wine sangria using homegrown ingredients and guests brought a tapas to share.

Over time, the party has evolved and is now our biggest event of the year. I usually spend a week or two thinking up the menu (trying hard not to repeat the tapas we serve) and spend a few days beforehand making the sangria and preparing the food. We almost always play ice breaker games and give prizes to the winners. In 2009, our party served as the official debut of my first (self-publishing) book, dirt&sunshine:random thoughts on the art of raising children (www.dirtandsunshine.com).
In 2014, The Party Evangelist launched as a full-fledged party and event business.
