Ask The Party Evangelist

Q: What’s your philosophy for creating a memorable event?

A: A great party begins with the people you invite. Mix together various groups of friends and/or clients for a lively party atmosphere. I like to serve a festive cocktail if the party budget allows (fruit/champagne fusions are delicious and inexpensive). With respect to food, I tend to think seasonally, serving whatever is freshest and reflects a sense of time and place. I love to style the food as artistically as possible, too – eating begins with the eyes, in my opinion! With settings/decor, I believe less is generally more and having an amazing focal point goes a long way. And I LOVE creating a signature element for every event. It’s typically the main thing guests remember long after the party is over. For example, I sourced a terrific local company to create a custom logo cookie for Brown Adams Agbayani LLP in February 2014; our souvenir gift bags were so popular, we had very few left over after the party! For Longeva Skincare’s fundraiser benefitting Cancer CAREpoint in January 2015, I made sure every appetizer was vegan and featured 1-3 actual ingredients found in the skincare products.

Q: Who is your dream party guest?

A: Lenny Kravitz, hands down. Smart, kind, wickedly talented and devastatingly sexy.

Q: How do you get party guests to participate in an icebreaker game?

A: Enthusiasm, enthusiasm, enthusiasm. That and offering a nice prize to the winner (if it’s a game).
